UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

ISES Corporation began its relationship with the University of Southern California (USC) in 1989. Our initial project involved management of a distressed construction project that was over budget and behind schedule. Follow-up efforts included specific building condition inspections, which eventually led to a comprehensive facility condition analysis for all University facilities. This initial inspection effort began in 1990 and included 252 buildings totaling over 11 million GSF.
The successful completion of the FCA effort led to significantly increased funding levels for facilities renewal at USC. In 1993, ISES was tasked with reinspecting the facilities to document the efforts made in the backlog reduction. As part of this effort, ISES field personnel verified all facility layouts and prepared as-built CAD drawings in full AIA format.
Starting in 1997, USC has utilized ISES to perform update inspections, looking at one-third of the campus each year. Functioning as an auxiliary arm of the facilities staff, ISES personnel perform the function of maintaining a comprehensive capital renewal database for the University.
In addition to the full range of FCA services provided to USC, ISES has also conducted various O&M studies and reviews, prepared utility infrastructure analyses, conducted operational security reviews, and is currently assisting USC with the implementation of a new CMMS and project management system. In keeping with our tradition of continuing full support, ISES annually prepares full reports for senior facilities management staff documenting the state of the facilities portfolio. This report allows management to demonstrate to the University Trustees the effective utilization of facilities renewal funding in support of the University mission.
